Imphal: All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) President Pheiroijam Nando Luwang in the presence of executive members of the Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura has inaugurated the newly constructed Nupilan statue by paying floral tribute and Thang salute at Gournagar at Khowai, Assam on Sunday.
The inaugural function was organised jointly by AMUCO and Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura.
The inauguration was attended by AMUCO Advisor Yangsosong Koireng, AMUCO Secretary Organisation Koijam Santosh Meitei, President of Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura Ningombam Bira, Joint Editor of Tripura Weekly Manipuri Journal MARUP R. K Tarunjit, Nupilan Observation Committee, Tripura Convenor Khoisnam Birola were also present on the day.
AMUCO President Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, Convenor of Nupilan Observation Committee, Tripura Covenor Khoisnam Birola and President of Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura Ningombam Bira Singha and Joint Editor of MARUP Weekly Journal R.K. Tarunjit were the Chief Guest, Functional President and Guests of Honour respectively.
Ningol Khoisnam Mamata and Hijam Anusmita from Tripura performed Thougal Jagoi on the day and patriotic song (Leibak Ningbagi Eeshei) was performed by Khumanthem Laxmi and inaugural song (Sheihou Eeshei) was sung by Khumanthem Anima. Various other cultural activities and solo dance were also showcased during the inaugural function.
Speaking at the inaugural function as Chief Guest, AMUCO President Ph. Nando Luwang said that the Manipuri brethren who has been settled in outside state should live proudly as Manipuri because Manipur has various story of courage and brave, beautiful and unique cultures and ruled under different Kings along with brave people.
He said that erection of statues for different brave martyrs outside of the state will give courage to those Manipuri brethren residing there and will remind them the courage shown by our heroes in various ocassion in the history of the state. He appealed to the State Government to take up various policy for the welfare of the Manipuri brethren living in outside of the State.
