Sanitation Campaign 2023 concludes

Thoubal: The three weeks long ” Women led Sanitation Campaign 2023″ organised by Lilong ( Thoubal) Municipal Council under Swachh Bharat Mission concluded on Thursday.

The sanitation campaign was launched on March 10 last at the office of the Lilong ( Thoubal) Municipal Council as a part of  observing Three Weeks”SWACHHOTSAV 2023″.

The main objectives of the campaign includes   making Lilong Town Garbage Free Town (GFT), Making Manipur Garbage Free State (GFS) and  Making India Garbage Free Country (GFC).

The closing event witnessed the presence of EM Anwar Hussain,Chairperson, Manipur State Minority Commission as chief guest,Md.Islaur Rahman,Caretaker Vice-Chairperson,Lilong (Thoubal) Municipal Council and  Laimayum Bashanta Sharma,Publisher, the Morning Bell, Manipur as president and guest of honour respectively.

Em Anwar Hussain stated that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Mission was launched by  Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a clean India.A clean town, Manipur and  India,  should be our target, he added.

 “The Morning Bell” publisher L.Basanta maintained that what our  Prime Minister meant for  cleanliness  is not only social cleanliness but also mental cleanliness.Our country’s “poorest of the poor” should bu served to the forefront.

Basanta also stated that our state will  launch Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (CMESS) which consists of  Rupees  10 Lakh per beneficiary with 30%subsidy by Manipur government, 5% own by beneficiary and 65% loan from bank.This will help in minimizing unemployment problem in the state, he added.

As a part of  the event Tarnajit Okram, MIS Expert SBM Urban talked on the topic “Women in Sanitation Activities”.He said that since time immemorial, women were taking a major role in waste management.Women Self Helg Groups also played a key role in waste management, he stated.

  Chingkham Boboy, CMM, SMID and  Pebam Krishnakumari, CMM, SMID also talked on “DAY NULM and  its Benefits” as resource persons. 

Caretaker Councillors of Lilong ( Thoubal) MC, Ex-WDC members, Students Organisation, Local Clubs, SHGS and ALF within the jurisdiction of Lilong (Thoubal) Municipal Council also attended at the closing event. SHGs and leaders of three communities were presented with  gifts. 

It may be mentioned here that several cleanliness activities were conducted within the areas of Lilong ( Thoubal) MC  during the 3 weeks cleanliness campaign.
