Imphal: Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has informed the Parliament that there is no any job reservation for Manipuris in the NEF Railways (Silchar-Imphal).
Rajya Sabha MP and titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba during the ongoing Parliament session questioned whether the Central Government has a specified deadline for the completion of Jiribam-Imphal railway project which is undertaken under the initiative of East Frontier Railways (NFR).
The MP also asked about the reservation of jobs for the Manipuri in the railways for the sector of Silchar-Imphal.
The Union Railways Minister while replying on reservation of jobs in railways, said that as Indian railways is a pan India character organisation, any eligible candidates across the country could apply for the railways jobs.
He conveyed that the Ministry did not give any relaxation or preference to any candidates from any specific States, region or places and that the Ministry allowed every applicant to apply to the post without domicile and there is no relaxation or preferences given to any candidates from the specific region or States.
He stated that the Ministry or thr Central Government gives equal opportunities to all eligible candidates in applying for the jobs which is also clearly mentioned in the constitutional provision.
Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the 111 km long new railways project line from Jiribam-Imphal was taken up to connect Manipur to Indian Railways (IR) network.
He explained that the railways project has not been able to complete in time due to various problems faced by the State Government in terms of land acquisition, clearance from the official of forest department, infringing utilising shift, clearance from different authorities, geological and topographical condition, law and order condition of the place where the project is taken up, climate condition, different factors in the number of working months etc.
The Ministry is trying its best level to complete the ongoing railways line as soon as possible, he added.
He stated that the project taken up on March 31, 2022 at the cost of amounting to Rs. 14, 332 cr. and a total of Rs. 12, 371 cr. has already been expensed so far as well as for the year 2022-23.
A 55 Km long railway line from Jiribam to Khongshang has been commissioned which is under operation, informed the Union Minister.
Replying to another query about the threat of using fake Aadhar card, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrashekhar stated that the Aadhaar system is a secure system and every eligible Indian is allotted an Aadhaar unique number according to Section 3 of Aadhaar Act, 2016.
He stated that every person who holds an Aadhaar number should make their own identity according to Section 4 (3) Aadhar Act, 2016. In the Act, it is given that every card holder has the right to use his/her Aadhaar number authenticated or verified offline in physical or electronic format, he added
He stated that Aadhaar letter/e-Aadhaar/Aadhaar PVC card is verified through a mechanism of online/offline mode and by using QR code scan with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The service will be available at UIDAI website and mAadhar application. If any information is received about offense in connection with the Aadhaar card then stringent action will be taken up by the law enforcement agency, warned the Union Minister.
