Imphal: A joint team of state police and central forces recovered and seized huge cache of weapons and warlike stores from the front side of the Maibam Lotpa Ching, Nambol, Bishnupur District on Saturday, an official statement said.
Acting on specific input about the movement of miscreants and caching of explosives, arms and ammunitions in the general area and foothills of Maibam Lotpa Ching Mamang Leikai near Kabui Village in Bishnupur District, an extensive joint combined and search operation was conducted in the said area.
During the joint operation weapons and warlike stores including one Sten gun carbine with 2 magazines, one 9 mm pistol, one modified 303 rifle, nine HE no. 36 hand grenade, three smoke bombs, five 51 mm Motar shells, one 2 inch Motar shell, one detonator, four walkie talkie (WT set) of different company along with 2 chargers, two mobile phones, two smoke shells, eight 7.62 mm ammunitions, two 5.56 INSAS ammunitions, two AK ammunitions, one tube launcher, one helmet, three pairs of jungle boots, three bullet proof vests, one Rucksack bag and one sleeping bag were found containing in three different bags from the front side of the Maibam Lotpa Ching where the suspected militants were supposed to be hiding.
The said entire area was further thoroughly searched.
The joint operation was conducted by teams of Bishnupur Commando led by P Sanjoy Singh, SI Nandalal Singh and Havildar Sailesh of Bishnupur Commando, 32 Battalion CRPF and Nambol Police Station team led by OC Abhinav under the overall command of Bishnupur SP Ksh Ravikumar Singh and Additional SP (Operations) Bishnupur Amarjit Lamabam.
The recovered articles were brought and handed over to the Nambol Police, the official statement added.
