Imphal: A huge consignment of Brown Sugar was seized from two women in Churachandpur on Thursday.
Based on reliable information received at around 5.30 PM that one Lallemzou Manlun (25), wife of Vungbiaklal Manlun of Kanaan veng of Lamka, Churachandpur had been frequently indulging in selling narcotics drugs at her residence, a team of Churachandpur police including Inspector N.Thangzamuan, OC-CCP PS and escorts, Inspector Chiinneilam Gangte, OC-WPS CCP with escorts and SI Thianminboi Vaiphei rushed to the location.
A requisition was made to the DM/CCP to depute one EM to be present during the search/seizure procedure, said a source.
The SDM/Tuibuong namely Jangminlen Lupho MCS arrived at the spot and house search was conducted.
During the search, 23 soap cases of suspected Brown Sugar was found under her pillow and upon weighing it was found to weigh 329 grams. The seized suspected Brown Sugar was wrapped with a white cloth, packed and sealed by using facsimile in the presence of SDM/Tuibuong and civil witness.
From the disclosure of Lallemzou Manlun, the house of one of her neighbours namely Chinlamneng Manlun (24), wife of Thangrouding Manlun of Kanaan Veng, New Lamka, Churachandpur was raided by the same team with the EM who was already present.
During search of the house of Chinlamneng Manlun, five soap cases and one polythene packet containing suspected Brown Sugar were found hidden under the blanket on the bed. On weighing, it was found to weigh 72 grams, the source disclosed.
The recovered suspected Brown Sugar was seized at 6.40 PM and Chinlamneng arrested at 6.55 PM by observing formalities.
The seized suspected Brown Sugar was wrapped in a white cloth, packed and sealed using facsimile in the presence of EM/SDM Tuibuong and independent witness.
A case under FIR NO.33(3)2023 CCP-PS u/s 21(c) / 21(b) ND & PS Act has been registered for investigation, it informed.
