Jiribam: Combined team of Manipur Police and Assam Rifles apprehended two individuals with 30 soap cases of contraband heroin worth Rs 3.5 crore from Jiribam district on Wednesday, an official said.

“Assam Rifles has demonstrated its commitment to a drug-free society while also setting an example for commendably tackling the drug smuggling nexus, contributing significantly to curbing illicit drug trafficking across North Eastern states,” Assam Rifles said in a statement.

The recovered contraband drug has been handed over to the concerned excise department for further necessary proceedings, the statement added.
