Imphal: Indian Army, in collaboration with Bishnupur Forest Division and local communities in Manipur, planted over 500 tree saplings in Kumbi, Saiton and Siden of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts symbolizing a collective commitment to environmental sustainability. The tress saplings were planted in connection with World Earth Day commemoration in different districts of Manipur.
Further, in Kakopathar, Assam, Army also organised a lecture on the theme of World Earth Day for students and teachers at Kakopathar Senior Secondary School followed by a tree plantation drive in the school premises, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation, instilling a sense of ownership and responsibility among the youth towards their surroundings, said PRO Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradeshan in an official statement.
