Kakching: With the Phase-I of the 18th Lok Sabha elections, 2024 for 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency slated for Friday, April 19, 2024, the District Election Office Kakching is all set to conduct a free and fair election. Kakching district comprises four Assembly constituencies Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sugnoo with a total of 1,17,576 voters.

Polling officials and security personnel were dispatched to their respective polling stations.

Polling officials collected EVMs and other election equipments from six counters set up for the four Assembly constituencies and two for Special Polling Stations at the Public Ground, Thoubal on Thursday.

The strong room for storing EVMs at Thoubal DC complex was opened earlier in the presence of Rohit Anand, DEO/DC Kakching District, M Kapajit, ADM Kakching District, AROs, Nodal Officers, and political party representatives.

Altogether 143 Polling stations has been set up in the four Assembly constituencies in Kakching district. 5 Special polling stations have been assigned for IDPs staying in various Relief camps (2 for Inner and 3 for Outer). The special polling stations are also identified for eligible electors not staying in Relief Camps but otherwise staying with relatives/friends within the jurisdiction of Kakching district.

31,372 voters will cast their votes at 36 Polling Stations for the 36-Wabagai Assembly Constituency. The electorate includes 15,055 male, 16,311 female and 6 transgender voters. Out of the total 36 Polling stations, 8 will be manned by women personnel. 70 vehicles have been requisitioned for Wabagai AC.

37-Kakching Assembly Constituency has 30,218 voters, out of which 14,473 are male, 15,737 are female and 8 are transgender voters. There will be 36 polling stations for Kakching AC, of which 17 will be manned by Women personnel. A total of 68 vehicles have been requisitioned for election duties.

For 38-Hiyanglam AC, a total of 27,846 voters will exercise their franchise across 36 polling stations. This includes 13,674 male and 14,172 female voters. Women personnel will manned 17 Polling stations while 51 vehicles have been requisitioned for this particular AC.

In respect of 39-Sugnoo AC, a total of 28,140 voters are set to cast their votes at 35 Polling stations. This particular AC has 13,992 male, 14,141 female and 7 transgender voters. 6 polling stations will be manned by women personnel, and 3 special polling stations are set up for IDPs. A total of 54 vehicles have been requisitioned for poll-related duties for Sugnoo AC.

The District Election authorities have made comprehensive arrangements to ensure free and fair election in the four assembly constituencies, focusing on inclusivity and accessibility for all eligible voters.

Mentioned may be made that the following individuals/personalities were declared as District icons in connection with the SVEEP activities of Election to Lok Sabha, 2024 for Kakching district. Narmada Shougaijam (Artist icon), Kishan Nongmaithem (Transgender icon) and Arunkumar Abujam (PwD icon).
