Home visits for absentee voters launched in Imphal East on Sunday

IMPHAL: The first round of home visit for Home Voters in Imphal East district for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was launched by District Election Officer of Imphal East Khumanthem Diana on Sunday. According to Diana, the Assistant Returning Officers have approved a list of 1679 absentee voters in the district, out of which 1069 are senior citizens above 85 years, 607 are Persons with Disabilities above 40 percent and 3 are Essential Service voters.

The first round of home visits for absentee voters by polling personnel in the district has been fixed from April 7 to 12, 2024 (excluding April 9 and 11). The second round of visits for left-over voters is scheduled on April 15, 2024. In this regard, 30 separate polling teams for absentee voters comprising of two officials, videographer, micro observer and security personnel were appointed for paying visits to the addresses of the absentee voters in ten Assembly constituencies in the district.

The home polling through postal ballots for absentee voters was introduced at the last Assembly elections.
