ASUCO warns of Road blocked

Imphal: The All Shamurou United Clubs’ Organisation (ASUCO) has threatened stir if the State Government fails to repair the deplorable Mayai Lambi road at the earliest.

A press release issued by ASUCO President Huirem Shyamkesho Meetei said that the Mayai Lambi road is a key route  but the road is in a deplorable condition despite being upgraded from inter-state road to NH 137A. Many public figures are passing through the road regularly but no step has been taken up to improve it till date.  

Recently, the state government officials conducted various surveys repeatedly for widening of the road in which many houses were demolished but as of now, no any sign of road repairing or blacktopping is seen.

 It may be mentioned that the government in various public meeting shouted to convert the road into four lane. Many casaulties have been reported. Recently, one father and son lost their precious lives in road mishap. The portion from Hiyangthang to Wangoi and some areas of Shamurou are the worst parts, it said. 

If the state government maintains silence then ASUCO along with the clubs will spearhead series of agitations, the release said.
