Imphal: Manipur People’s Party (MPP) President Chingakham Shyamjai has strongly refuted the allegations hurled by one Saratkumar Maimom with regard to the attack at his residence.
Talking the media in a press meet held at the office of MPP, Chingakham Shyamjai stated that the allegations made by one Sarat Maimom against the party is baseless, contending that the party has nothing to do with the incident.
Stating that MPP is the oldest regional party in the state and the executive members have been trying to revive the party, he lamented that some former members have been trying to tarnish the image of the party and it’s executive in a bid to hinder the functioning and to eradicate the party from the soil of the state .
He said that one Saratkumar Maimom uploaded a video in Social Media in which he stated that he had been attacked by some unknown persons by firing gunshots but he escaped unhurt.
In another video, he again charged that some cadres of UNLF had attacked him and in another video, he alleged that President of MPP, Chingakham Shyamjai and General Secretary of MPP had attacked him. Sarat Maimom has been lying and plotting schemes to tarnish the image of the party, he said, adding that such incidents should not be repeated again in the future.
Vice President MPP, Y Priyokumar asserted that the party had conducted elections as per the order of High Court and had elected the President, Vice President and General Secretary and executive members as per the direction and order of CEO.
He stressed that Saratkumar Maimom who is involved in many illegal activities was removed from the party. He appealed to the people not to believe the allegations made by him.
