Imphal: Kakching Police arrested a husband- wife duo along with Heroin No. 4 weighing 1.426 Kg while conducting frisking and checking at Serou Lamkhai on Thursday.
A source said the seizure was affected upon receiving information that smuggling/transporting drugs from Chakpikarong side to Sugnu side was being done by some miscreants.
Accordingly, teams of CDO Kakching led by Sub-Inspector S. Birla along with SI Th.Robindro Brown conducted random frisking and checking at the area near Serou Lamkhai to which one Bolero (white in colour) bearing registration number MN 07D-1206 vehicle was stopped in this course.
The driver and the occupant of the vehicle have been identified as MangKhup Haokip (36) of Tuitung village, Chakpikarong, Chandel district and his wife Lamkhoneng Haokip (29) of Tuitung village, Chakpikarong, Chandel district. Upon thorough checking of the vehicle, 110 soap cases concealed in the side doors containing suspected Heroin No. 4 were detected.
Upon weighing, the suspected Heroin No.4 was found to weigh 1.426 Kg in total. Accordingly, the two persons were arrested.
The arrested persons along with the seized articles were handed over to Sugnu Police Station for taking further necessary action, informed the source.
On the other hand, a team of Sugnu Police Station arrested one young lady along with 139 gram of suspected Heroin No. 4 on Thursday.
Another source said the seizure was affected while conducting routine patrolling at the Zou Veng village area at around 3 PM.
Two ladies ran away suspiciously on seeing the police team. They ran into the house of one Nengsuan Zou (60), wife of Late Pausuan Zou of Zou Veng village.
A team of Sugnu Police team rushed to the premises of the house and detained one woman while the other lady managed to run away and in process she dropped two bags at the spot.
On verification of the detained lady, she identified herself as M. Carolyn Chinkholhing Haokip (22), wife of Lalpi Zou (23) of T. Zoumun village near Sugnu Pamang Leikai. She admitted that she supplied Heroin to youths living in and around the Sugnu area.
She also disclosed the name of the lady who escaped as Nengsuan Zou (60), wife of Late Pausuan Zou of Zou Veng village.
The detained lady was searched along with the two bags and 19 numbers of tobacco cans containing suspected Heroin No.4 were detected. An amount of Rs.47, 330 in cash was also found in the other bag. The weight of suspected Heroin No.4 was found to be 139 gram.
The arrested woman was handed over to Sugnu PS for further legal action. Efforts are underway to arrest the second lady who has been evading arrest, added the source.
In another drug seizure, a frisking and checking team of Irilbung Police Station intercepted a person along with Heroin at Keirao Menjor Ingkhol IVR road via Bashikhong on Thursday at around 7.30 PM.
The person ran inside a nearby house which turned out to be the house of the suspected person. The team rounded his house and detained him and searched his body and his house in the presence of the concerned Magistrate. The team found two bottles containing suspected Heroin No.4 from his bed.
The person has been identified as Ziaul Haque (26), son of Nasir of Keirao Menjor Ingkhol.
The suspected Heroin No. 4 powder was seized in front of the Magistrate and independent witnesses by observing necessary formalities.
The weight of the suspected Heroin excluding the plastic bottles (Novitas) was found to be 10 gram approximately, said a source.
The person has been arrested and a case has been registered at Irilbung PS for further investigation, it conveyed.
