Imphal: Minority, ST and SC cell and different frontal organization of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee staged protest at the gate of Congress Bhawan on Saturday as a part of Jay Bharat Satyagraha under the slogan ‘Democracy in Danger’.
Addressing the media, ex MLA and Working President, in charge Fazur Wahim stated that Minority department, SC &ST have staged protest to save democracy which is violated by the present government.
He said that the protest has been carried out by different cell of MPCC including Minority, ST and SC department strongly condemning the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by District Court in Surat and disqualifying of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha.
He said that democracy of India has been respected all over the world however, it has been to a great extent violated by the BJP led government. He said that exchange of words between ruling and opposition in Parliament or assembly has been done in the past . However, a defamation case was filed against the Congress leader for speaking and enquiring on the relationship between Adani and Modi and stated that such dictatorship is condemnable. He said that the people of the nation must fight against such injustice and the present government must respect and protect democracy.
He lamented that police personnel have use force against the democratic protest and candle lighting protest carried out by the executive of the MPCC on Friday.
