Imphal: BJP Manipur Pradesh General Secretary K Sarat has dismissed the allegations leveled against the BJP by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee over the verdict on sentencing Rahul Gandhi to two years jail term by the Suraj District Court.
Addressing the media in a press meet held at Thambal Shanglen, Nityaipat Chuthek on Sunday, K.Sarat said that Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is a failure although the Congress party claimed that the people of India support Rahul Gandhi.
He said that the yatra was only participated by Congress workers and shortly after the yatra, the Congress failed to win the elections. Lauding the development brought in the State by the BJP government, he questioned as to why such development projects and programs have not been taken up by the Congress during their long rule in the State.
He mentioned Maku, Barak and Irang Bridges constructed by CM Biren-led BJP government. The railway project is almost completed and it will soon reach Imphal after the construction completes till Tupul, he added. He asserted that the BJP government led by PM Narendra Modi at the Centre and his council of ministers including Amit Shah, JP Nadda and CM Biren in the State with party leader A Sharda Devi has made history by removing disturbed area status from different police stations without any agitation, protest, demand and bloodshed from any organisation or CSOs.
Sarat stated that the people of the State will be forever indebted to the double engine govt as they have acknowledged what the people of the state want. He reiterated that various agitations have been launched and many lives were lost during the agitation launched demanding removal of AFSPA from the State.
The decision is a gift to the people on the eve of Cheiraoba which is Meetei New Year and has proved that the present BJP government is people centric, he added. He dismissed the claims made by MPCC that Bharat Jodo Yatra received mass support from the public and that BJP is scared of Congress which led the BJP to take such actions against Rahul Gandhi.
He said that corruption was at its highest peak during the Congress rule and that the party is trying to defame the clean BJP government led by PM Narendra Modi. BJP Manipur Pradesh General Secretary P Premananda appreciated the BJP led government for its initiative to remove disturbed area status from different police stations in the State. He said that ILP was implemented in the State right after the BJP government came to power into State. He stated that the party will continue to support and work tirelessly for the truth and development taken up by CM Biren-led BJP government.
