Imphal: Days after Manipur Government have seized Myanmar made Kenbo bikes allegedly used by the drug smugglers and Poppy growers, District Administration Tengnoupal and Moreh Police have started seizing kenbo bikes at Moreh town which is located along the Indo-Myanmar border.
District Administration Tengnoupal and Moreh Police had earlier announced a total ban on the use of kenbo bikes from Myanmar. Following the announcement, Moreh Police and Commando teams began conducted mass frisking at Moreh town at about 2 PM on Sunday and seized kenbo bikes.
Moreh town bordering with Myanmar is a place where kenbo bikes from Myanmar are found widely used. Earlier, Manipur Police seized as many as 30 Kenbo bikes from different parts of the state.
It may be mentioned that on Saturday, Churchanpur Police apprehended 26 illegal kenbo Bikes mainly used by drug smugglers and poppy planters, a day after seizure of four Kenbo bikes along with over 30 Kg Poppy seeds from Boljang village under Saikul PS. Two more Kenbo bikes were seized by Kamjong District Police on Saturday. One bike was seized at Kamjong town while the other one was seized at Kasom Khullen area.
