Imphal: Superintendent of Police Imphal East has suspended 2nd OC of Irilbung Police Station SI Th. Bungbung from his service. Though the Suspension order does not mention the exact reason for suspension of the Police officer, it is speculated that the cop might be suspended in connection with the thrashing of a differently able person of Keirao Makting Menjor Ingkhol who sought justice over land mortgage.
The order said, “A disciplinary proceeding is being contemplated against SI Th. Bungbung of Irilbung Police Station for his grave misconduct and dereliction of duty. Now, therefore, the under signed in exercise of power conferred upon me under Rule 66 of Assam Police Manual Part-II, do hereby place SI. Th. Bungbung of Irilbung Police Station under suspension with immediate effect and until further order. It is, further ordered that during the period of suspension, the headquarter of SI. Th. Bungbung will be the Reserve Line, Porompat and he will not leave his headquarters without obtaining the prior permission of the undersigned. He will be entitled to subsistence allowances as admissible under rules during the period of his suspension”.
