Imphal: Two non-locals with invalid Inner Line Permit (ILP) and one rent owner have been arrested by a team of Lilong Police Station. Police said that a team of Lilong PS comprising lady police personnel conducted a routine ILP verification drive of Non-Locals at Lilong Alia Lamkhai area Masjid road on
Saturday morning at about 10.30 AM. In the drive, police came across two non-Manipuris with invalid Inner Line Permit who were staying at the rental House of one Syed Hifjur Rahman (54), son of Late. Jalaluddin of Lilong Alia Lamkhai, Masjid Road, Thoubal district by violating the Manipur Inner Line Permit
Guideline, 2019 (Manipur Inner Line Permit 1st Amendment Guidelines, 2022).
The two arrested non locals have been identified as Gorakh Ray (47), son of Amavasi Ray and his wife Sugiya Devi, 45, of Khalispur village, Saran district in Bihar and The two individuals including the
owner of the house namely Syed Hifjur Rahman were picked up and brought at the Police Station for further formalities. As per provision of Manipur Inner Line Permit 1st Amendment Guidelines, 2022, the sponsor of the two individual namely Syed Hifjur shall be liable to pay a sum of Rs. 5000 as penalty per person.
Necessary steps will be taken up against the two Non Manipuris as per provision of Manipur Inner Line Permit 1st Amendment Guidelines, 2022, police said. Police appealed to the general public specially the sponsoring Entity e.g. c o n t r a c t o r / F i r m / Agency/Company etc. who engage Non-Locals labourers
and owner of rental house who keep Non-local to follow Manipur Inner Line Permit Amendment Guidelines, 2022. It also further appealed to check their ILP documents regularly.
