Jiribam: As the preparation for election to 40-Jiribam Assembly Segment of 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency accelerated, the District Election Officer, Jiribam Krishna Kumar on Saturday flagged off a bike rally from the Jiribam Bridge near Foreigner Check Post, Jiribam as part of SVEEP campaign.
The DEO, Jiribam while flagging off the rally said that every election marks a new beginning and renewal of people’s hope and optimism. Special focus is given to the first time voters, 85+ voters and women voters. Moreover, special focus is also given to encourage and motivate each and every voters of the district.
He further said that since the last two months, the district election office has been preparing tirelessly for the smooth and peaceful conduct of election in the district. While encouraging the voters, the DEO said that election is the only time to exercise our right to elect and the decision of the voters will make a difference, which will also have positive outcome for the development of the district, he continued.
He also appealed the voters of the district to come forward and exercise their constitutional rights and participate in the nation building process and also be part of the biggest festival of democracy.
Under the SVEEP campaign, the DEO has taken up various activities like electoral literacy clubs, Chunav Pathsala and organises various interaction and awareness programmes with Schools, Colleges and many Self Help Groups. The Bike rally participated by around 40 students of Jiri college was organised as part of the SVEEP campaign to spread awareness and to interact with different categories of voters in every nook and corners of the district. It may be recalled that the campaign was started six month back with the start of special summary revision.
The flag off ceremony was also attended by Superintendent of Police Jiribam, A. Ghanashyam Sharma, Assistant Returning Officer/ ADC, Jiribam, Thokchom Manoranjan Singh, Nodal Officer SVEEP, Jiribam Amit Sagolsem, Moirangthem Surjit Singh, Executive Officer, Jiribam Municipal Council and other civil and police officers of the district.
