Imphal: A combined team of special Police Commando Unit, Khabeisoi and 20th AR troops arrested one active member of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) at Kotha Lamkhai on Saturday.
The arrested cadre has been identified as Ningombam Yaimongba Singh @ Pumba @ Engel (34) S/o N. Ibotombi Singh of Khongman Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district.
According to a police source, at about 3 PM, a specific input was received from reliable sources regarding presence of some unknown persons suspected to be valley base UG group at general area of Kotha Lamkhai area, Tengnoupal district.
On receiving the information a combined team of 20th AR troops and special CDO Unit, Khabeisoi, under the command of Subedar L. Bebekananda Singh (OC Special Commando Unit, Khabeisoi) under the supervision of SP/Railway, In-Charge Special CDO unit, Khabeisoi Th. Krishnatombi Singh conducted frisking and checking at Kotha Lamkhai at 5 PM.
During the frisking and checking one unknown person was seen coming on foot on suspicious manner. Due to his suspicious nature, he was detained for verification on the spot, said source.
On verification, he identified himself as Ningombam Yaimongba Singh @ Pumba @ Engel (34) S/o N. Ibotombi Singh of Khongman Mayai Leikai, Imphal East District.
On further verification, the detainee revealed that he is an active member of banned organization of People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA). He joined in 2003 through one Naoba Singh of Jiribam. He is working under the Command of Lt. Col. Amuchou of Kakching Khunou (Asst. Secretary Minority Affair). He got basic military training at Sajik Tampak. His PLA MC No. 285 and Army No. 2588 and his holding the rank of Director Minority affair. Now he took shelter at Myanmar legit camp of People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA).
He further revealed that he came out from the unit camp to watch the movement of the security forces at the border line including the road of Kotha area. So, from the above fact and circumstances he was arrested at the spot at 5:30 PM. The arested cadre has been handed over to Moreh PS for taking up further necessary legal action against him, added the source.
