Imphal: An organisation of the Writers entitled “Writer’s Platform, Manipur(WRITPLAT)” was formally established in a function held at Manipur Press Club on Sunday where Ex-Minister of Arts & Culture, Langponglakpam Jayentakumar, Retd Chairperson M. S. S. W. B & patron of the Writer’s Platform Manipur, R. K Nayansana Devi, Member of EZCC Kolkata, Thingbaijam Swarankumar, Advisor of WRITPLAT, Nongmaithem Kirankumar Singh and Dr Saratchandra Longjamba attended as presidium members.
A book titled ‘Poknapham Eigi’ by Soram Iboyaima, Life Member of WRITPLAT was released and recitation of poems by poets was also held as a part of the function. Talking to media person on the sideline of the function, Secretary of WRITPLAT, Kangabam Ingaremba said it has been his long cherished dream to establish the Writer’s Platform, however it was delayed due to the Covid -19 pandemic. He tried to establish the organization with a unique purpose and the same was formed on February 21, 2023, the International Mother Language Day.
He elaborated that the state has huge potential of traditional and cultural values with wide variety of natural flora and fauna. He stressed that the potential of oral literature is also huge and there are times when the four walled room is not enough to motivate in writing.
He said, besides working as a columnist, he wanted to explore more on poem, theater, short stories and many other form of writing. The organization aims to gather the works of the writers so that it would also helps the research of students carrying out further research and study in Manipuri literature which would
also guide the future generation.
He said that he is also planning to travel from place to place in different parts of the state and interact with the communities and to share their problems and issues through stories and poems.
