Imphal: Hundreds of church members from different Meetei Christian societies took out a mass peace rally on Saturday showing solidarity with the State Government’s ‘War on Drugs’ campaign to eradicate drugs from the soil of the State. The mass peace rally which kicked off from THAU Ground covered Khoyathong traffic point via Nagamapal, Waheng Leikai, Moirangkhom, Keishampat traffic point and culminated at Hapta Kangjeibung where a mass meeting was held. The mass peace rally was organised by the Organising Committee Meetei Christian Peace Rally.
Various placards which read “Meetei Christian Society support War on Drugs”, “We pray for the peace and prosperity in Manipur”, “Meetei Christians stand against drugs”, “Save Manipur, save environment”, “Meetei Christians stand for maintaining better relationship and peace in between hill and valley” etc. Several young women, young girls and boys, elderly citizens took part in the rally. Ambulance vehicles and medical teams were also deployed during the rally. Wangjing Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen Singh, executive members of the organising committee and various religious leaders of the Meetei Christian society were also present at the occasion.
