Imphal: Citizens’ Club, Soibam Leikai launched a two-day long cleanliness competition for ‘MLA Trophy’ prior to the celebration of 53rd Annual Sports Festival 2023 on Saturday. The competition was held among four Pana (groups) of the locality namely Wangbren, Marjing, Koubroo and Thangjing. The groups have started the cleanliness drive as a part of the competition in and around the locality.

Citizens’ Club President Ma- hendra Naorem while speaking to the media said that the club launched the cleanliness competition with the initiative to spread knowledge on cleanliness and importance of maintaining hygienic surroundings for good health and to encourage cleanliness in the locality.
He said that the main objective of the 53rd Annual Sports Festival is to hunt the talented and aspiring youths in the field of games and sports He exuded confidence that inculcating sporting spirit in the minds of the youths is the best option to fight the issue of drugs in the State.

He stated that many participants of the annual sports festival have reached the national and international level and it will also pave a path for the young sport enthusiasts to their future career. He said that use of water guns and spraying colours will not be seen in the locality and emphasis will be put on sports activities. He said that the club has received appreciation from different parts of the state and appealed to the people to come and witness the sports festival of Citizens’ Club.
