Imphal: Reacting to the statement made by the Youth Upliftment Coordinating Organisation (YUCO) over the long pending crisis of Naorem Birahari College, Khundrakpam, Secretary of the Governing Body (GB) of the college Usham Dijen clarified that the current GB was formed as per order issued by the Directorate of Education (U) and that they have all the documents of the order.
Talking to reporters at Manipur Press Club on Friday, GB Secretary Usham Dijen while clarifying on the recruitment of 17 posts by the then GB of the college, maintained that the recruitment list of 17 posts was submitted to the concerned authorities by the then GB in the early part of 2017 but later the GB was dissolved due to strong agitations launched by the teachers under suspension at present who were the members of GB by then.
He said that after the dissolution of the then GB, a new GB was formed on March 2, 2021 headed by L Kamal as new Chairman, N Thoiba as new Secretary and H Rebika as new representative of teachers of the college.
Unfortunately, the newly appointed GB lifted the “aided” status of the college but later the aided status was restored again on November 27, 2021. On the next day, the GB under the chairmanship of Kamal was dissolved by Education (U) again as they were trying to recruit many posts, he said.
On the other hand, as per order issued by the High Court of Manipur on October 6, 2022, the present functional GB was formed again. He clarified that the present GB, which is only four months old, did not recruit the existing jumbo size employees of the college. The current jumbo size employees were recruited by the dissolved GB against the guidelines, he clarified.
He said that all the teachers of the college who are under suspension were suspended by the present GB for being absent in the college for seven months. The present GB has attendance register of the suspended teachers. The NAAC assessment has been completed now with the existence of full-fledged GB, he added.
