Churachandpur: Churachandpur Police on Saturday detained three individuals for extorting money from vehicles plying along Churachandpur-Sugnu road.
Police sources said that on Saturday at around 9.10 pm, a reliable information was received that some unknown persons holding weapons/arms were loitering around Muolvaiphei village near K.T.Spring, Churachandpur and extorting money from vehicles plying along Churachandpur-Sugnu road.
Accordingly, a team of Churachandpur Police Station rushed to the area and detained three persons found acting in a suspicious manner.
The individuals identified themselves as Lalramhlun Lungtau alias Daa alias Rama (32), son of Late Sapbiek of Rengkai Muolhluom, Churachandpur; Vanlalthang alias VL (40), son of Sumneithang of Parbung presently staying at Muolvaiphei, Churachandpur and Lalthralhun Joute alias Lalthra (37), son of Lailienthoun of Ngurte DLC Veng, Churachandpur.
They admitted that they are members of HPC(D) Manipur region and extorted money from vehicles plying along Churachandpur-Sugnu road by using arms.
They were arrested from the spot at 10.10 pm.
One Airsoft gun M4A1 with one magazine (without live rounds) one Smith and Wesson M & P 40.177 (4.5 mm caliber) BB Gun Air Pistol with one magazine (without live round) and one holster were seized from the possession of Lalramhlun Lungtau alias Daa alias Rama. Also, seized one Maruti Car 800 b/no. MZ0K-5130 (red color), three mobile phones ( Oppo F-17, Redmi 10 and Vivo-1816).
A suo moto case under FIR No.13(1)2023 CCP-PS u/s 384/400/34 IPC & 25(1-C) Arms Act has been registered for investigation.
