Thoubal: As a part of the ongoing effort by a dedicated team of armed forces and army veterans of Manipur, 40 sets of Covid-19 kits were handed over to the representatives of ex- servicemen from Chandel district on Monday at a simple event held at the ex-servicemen health care clinic, Koirengei, in Imphal, said a release.
The release stated that the core team of X-Men Help Group namely Lt. Col Manongba (Indian Army veteran), NK L Rameshwar, Dr. Herojit, and Dr Nirva attended the event and distributed the 40 Covid-19 kits to the representatives of ESMs Chandel for further distribution to their members.
The release also added that the group aims to distribute Covid Kits consisting of few basic and essential items to protect from the deadly virus.
The items include stock of hand sanitizers for 2 to 3 months and face masks for 3 months for each army or navy or air force veterans included in the project. Besides, oximeter and digital thermometer for a small group were also included in a set of COVID kit.
So far, about 200 such kits have been given free to the ex-servicemen of Kanglatongbi, Kamjong, Churachandpur and Chandel, it stated.
Early distribution or collection has been delayed due to prevailing Covid-19 restrictions. The team plans to continue reaching out to the ESMs of other districts gradually, the release informed.
A core team of volunteer ESMs and medical professionals will overlook and there will be two ways flow and sharing of information between the core group and ESMs in remote villages.
