Imphal: National Highway – 2 connecting Imphal and Dimapur was snapped near Sapormeina in Kangpokpi district after suspected Kuki militants carried out a powerful explosion causing heavy damage to an important bridge located between Sapormeina and Koubru Leikha at around 12.30 am on Wednesday.
The initial report stated that movement of heavy motor vehicles over the bridge has consequently been rendered impossible due to the severity of impact which left at least three large wholly dug holes on its floor.
The Imphal-Tamenglong route will also be affected as it passes through the same route.
