Imphal: A joint team of state police and central forces recovered and seized cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from the foothills South of Sadu Nepali Basti in Bishnupur District on Thursday, an official statement said.

Acting on specific input about the movement of miscreants and caching of explosives, arms and ammunitions in the general area foothills in the South of Sadu Nepali Basti between Laimanai road and Khoijarok Nalla under Loktak Police Station, the joint team of Bishnupur District Police CDOs, a column of 5 Sikh Regiment and two sections of C29 SSB l under the supervision of SP Bishnupur conducted cordon and search operation in the said area from 6 am to 9.30 am.

During the search operation, the joint team recovered one Carbine bearing no. EED 23702, one MK-2 Stand bearing no. 501/247 with one magazine, one Anti-Riot Gun bearing no. 187102680, one local made .303 Rifle, one country made 9mm gun with one empty magazine, six Tear gas Smoke shell, Three Grenade Tube launching, thirteen Hand Grenade, One no Of Chinese Hand grenade, Eleven 5.56 mm ammunitions, Three 7.62 mm Cartridge rounds, five grenade launching ring, and One no Of BP jacket.

The recovered items have been handed over to Loktak Police Station where a case has been taken up for further investigation, the official statement added.
