Imphal: Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal in facilitator with Rama Foundation organised a free medical camp for internally displaced persons at Manipur Trade & Expo Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong relief camp on Saturday.

The programme was jointly flagged off by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director RIMS, Imphal along with Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal and S. Sarat Singh, CAO/FA, RIMS, Imphal from RIMS OPD Block and also visited the health camp.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Kumar Sharma appreciated the organisers for organising relief camp in a well manner. He also shared information about preventative measures with the inmates to protect from dengue diseases, advising parents to wear long clothes for their children. No serious diseases were detected in the camp.

The RIMS Director assured to give free treatment and advised the inmates to visit RIMS if serious illness occurs to them during their stay in the relief camp. A sum of Rs. 10,000 was also donated to MD of Rama foundation. Sweets were also distributed to the children during the health camp.

Further, Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal and S. Sarat Singh, CAO/FA, RIMS, Imphal also assured to help inmates of the relief camp in future when they require.

Dr. W. Ranbir Singh, President, NTEWA (Non- Teaching Employees Welfare Association) said that a series of free health camp will be organised at different places of the State under the aegis of RIMS authority with an aim to assist internally displaced persons from RIMS side.

A team of specialist doctors from various departments of Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obst & Gynaecology, Dermatology, Clinical Psychology, Orthopedic and pediatrics departments gave treatments and provided health counseling to around 217 patients during the camp.

Free medicines and sanitary pads were also distributed to all the patients who attended the camp. The free medical camp was also attended by Nursing Officials, staff and officials of RIMS, Imphal.
