Imphal: Handicapped Development Foundation Chairman V Sapam Jasowanta said that providing necessary facilities in different school campuses for differently abled persons is needed.
He was speaking in connection with the campaign “We Ring the Bell Campaign 2023” under the theme “All Children are welcome to the school including with a disability” held at Popular High School, Khurai. The campaign was organised jointly by HD Foundation in collaboration with Jan Vikas Samiti Varanasi and Lilian Fonds Netherland.
The campaign was attended by Deputy Director (Disability) of Social Welfare AS Robinson, Pradhan of Laishram Leikai GP Ngangom John Meetei and Popular High School Principal A Pritamjit Sharma as the main dignitaries.
As part of the campaign, dignitaries on the dais released air balloon and signature campaign was also conducted.
Jasowanta further said that the differently abled persons have the capability to perform like any other normal person. He said that to eradicate poverty in the State and nation, giving good education to differently abled community is needed. Human rights of differently abled persons should not be deprived, he added.
Out of ten children enrolled in the school, one child belonged to differently abled community but they could not get orooer education. If such activity continues then the dream of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030 will not be made.
He said that the campaign was organised with the objective to give the light of education to all the differently abled children under SDG 2030.
