Imphal: A 23 year old man was found dead Nungei Dolaithabi Loukon in Thoubal district on Friday. Police has arrested five accused persons in connection with the case.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Amar, 23, Son of Md. Najir Khan of Lilong Nungei Khunou. According to Police, on April 13 at about 11:10 am, Mrs. Kulsum, 21, W/o Md. Amar of Lilong Nungei Khunou (deceased) lodged a missing report to Lilong Police Station stating that her husband went missing after he left home on April 12 at about 8 pm. It referred to GD Entry No. 13/LIL-PS/2023 on April 13, 2023 and endorsed to complainant for enquiry. As per endorsement, IO of the case enquired into the matter, sent a message to all OCs of all Police stations in Manipur to make a sharp look out at their jurisdiction, and submitted a requisition for obtaining SDR & CDR of the said missing person mobile phone to nodal officer LIU.
In the meantime, on April 14 at about 6:30 am, a reliable information was received that one unknown dead body was found lying at Nungei Dolaithabi Loukon in a suspicious manner. A team of Lilong Police
rushed there for spot enquiry. On enquiry, the dead body was found lying at the spot in a suspicious way and the body was identified as Md. Amar. The spot was cordoned for due formalities.
Upon further investigation, Police picked up four suspected persons identified as Md. Habibur Rahaman @ Habi, 50, S/o (L) Base, Md. Hassan, 30, S/o Md. Habibur Rahaman @ Habi, Md Amir @ Boboy, 27, S/o
Md. Sakir, 24, all residents of Lilong Chingjao from their house on Friday. Initial investigation revealed that they are highly suspicious to be involved in commission of the said crime.
With the assistance of Mobile Forensic Unit team of FSL, Police recovered one transparent plastic polythene marked as “1” which is said to contain one Realme Mobile phone, one transparent plastic polythene marked as “2” which is said to contain one Cigarette cone and one black polythene containing pair of shoes from the spot. The body was deposited to the JNIMS Morque, Porompat for Post Mortem
Examination.
In further investigation, Police seized one Tata DI bearing Regd. No. MN04C-0619 white in colour from the house of Md. Habibur Rahaman @ Habi, 50, S/o. (L) Bhadsa of Lilong Chingjao. The arrested accused persons were interrogated thoroughly and on interrogation, they admitted to have committed the charge leveled against them.
The accused persons were produced before the Duty Magistrate, Thoubal on Friday and remanded into police custody for a period of seven days i.e. till April 20.
Moreover, one more accused person namely Mrs. Gahorjan @ Gaho, 55, W/o. Md. Habibur Rahaman @ Habi of Lilong Chingjao was also arrested from her residence on Friday.
