Imphal: Governor Anusuiya Uikey has said that she will extend all possible help for the welfare of ex-servicemen in the State and also at the national level. She was speaking in a luncheon organised on Thursday with a delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad (ABPSSP) at Raj Bhavan in Imphal.

The delegation is visiting Manipur in connection with the observance of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Moirang Utsav 2023 which will be held on Friday at INA Headquarters at Moirang. It may be mentioned that Colonel Shaukat Malik of the Indian National Army hoisted the Tricolour at Moirang for the first time on Indian soil on April 14, 1944.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that ABPSSP has been contributing not only for the welfare of ex-servicemen, but also for the people in general.

She said that even in difficult times like in Covid pandemic, the Parishad had contributed a lot which is commendable. Their roles in the country’s security are praiseworthy, she added.

The Governor assured the delegation that she will extend all possible help to ex-servicemen in the State as well as at the national level. She also wished them for their well being and expressed hope that they will contribute further for the welfare of society in future.

Remembering the contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the freedom struggle, the Governor said that Netaji and his Indian National Army had contributed significantly to the awakening of patriotism in the country. The patriotic fervour of Nataji Subhas Chandra Bose is a source of inspiration for people all over the world fighting for the motherland, she added.

She continued that it is a matter of pride that the people of Manipur have played a very important role in the freedom struggle. Most of the battles fought by INA were in Manipur. The people of the State sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle, the Governor said.

Lt. General L. Nishikant Singh, President of ABPSSP, Manipur and Major General Rajeev Gupta, National Vice-President of the Parishad attended the lunch among others.
