Churachandpur: A group of mountain trekkers who trekked Thangjing hills on Sunday met with an accident while descending from the pinnacle of Koubru hills on their way home.

As per a report, the accident occurred when a DI Tata truck they were travelling in slipped at Ballei village, along the road stretching from Tiddim road to Thangjing hills.

On hearing the fateful news, the Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi (KKL), a philanthropic organisation from Churachandpur rushed to the spot and carried out evacuation process. The volunteers of KKL-GHQ then rushed the accident victims to a hospital in Moirang. Three serious victims were referred to Imphal for further medical treatment.

As many as nine people sustained injuries in the accident. The injured persons have been identified as Salam Sanajaoba Singh, Ahanthem Leingam Singh, Loitongbam Kiran, Khoisnam Manaoton, Kumam Bidyajith, Salam Thoiba, Kumam Rocky Singh, K. Herojit Singh and Ngangom Anao Singh. However, till the filing of this news report, no death was reported.

A group of many people trekked the Thangjing Hills since the last few days for picnic and camping, the report said.
