Noney (DIO): A newly constructed institute building of District Institute of Education & Training ( DIET), Noney which was constructed at a project cost of 4,25,11,135 was inaugurated on Saturday at Longmai Part – 3, Noney District Headquarters by Minister (Education, Law & Legislative Affairs) Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh as Chief Guest in the presence Dinganlung Gangmei, Chairman of ill Areas Committe, who is also Nungba AC MLA and H.Gyan Prakash, Commissioner (Education).

The building having 30 rooms (G – Plus) including water supply and sanitary rooms was constructed under the implementing agency of Education Engineering Wing, Education (S) Department under State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

After the end of the inauguration function, a public function was also held at the multipurpose hall, Longmai Part -3, Noney District Hqs. The programme was attended by Shri Joseph Pauline Kamson, Deputy Commissioner Noney Meiduan Gangmei, Khullakpa, Longmai village and other CSOs leaders .

Speaking at the event, Minister Basanta Kumar said that Command and Control Centre to monitor education system will be set up soon in the State as done in Gujarat. He said that the New Education Policy system is progressing and advancing in Manipur too.

He divulged that recruitment results for Graduate Teachers will be out within this month and ultimately it will solve the problem of shortage of teachers in the State both in the hill and valley districts.

He said that the education sector is facing three main big challenges in the department, such as shortage of teachers (manpower), poor infrastructure and transfer and posting issues.

The Minister said that there is shortage of teachers because there was no recruitment in the last 10 years and now more than 7000 posts of teachers are still lying vacant.

Assuring that there will be great changes in the education sector in the coming two years in the State, the Minister pledged that he is ready to resign if it is not fulfilled.

Basanta Kumar also said that new system of multicolour uniform for the students like private schools will also be implemented in Government schools of the State. Computers and tablets were also distributed to government teachers and students .

He also assured that the newly inaugurated DIET centre of Noney will be functioning soon according to the procedures of the Ministry and its approval and new recruitment of DIET teachers will be taken up.

Speaking at the event, local MLA Dinganlung Gangmei said that the War on Drugs campaign should be supported by the people of Noney district. He also appealed to the Education Minister to take necessary action for the functioning of DIET centre in Noney.

The Minister assured that issues plaguing education sector in Noney district will be sorted out soon.

The Minister also distributed sports materials to the school students. He also had an interaction session with the students .

During the occasion, various cultural programmes were showcased by cultural troupes .

Basanta Kumar who also holds the portfolio of Law visited the construction site of District Court complex of Noney district which has been going on at Rangkhung Part -1.

He also instructed the officials and contractors to expedite the construction process before the onset of monsoon season.
