Dhaka (Agency): Indian Women cricket team registered a convincing 44 run victory against Bangladesh in the first T20 match played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Bowler Renuka singh took 3-18 helping India bowl out Bangladesh for 101 in response to a modest 145-7 made by it batting first.
Earlier, the visiting Indian team won the toss and decided to bat first. India scored 145 runs after losing seven wickets with sound performances by Yastika Bhatia (36) and Shafali Verma (31) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (30).
Bangladesh had a disastrous start losing four wickets in 30 runs but captain Nigar Sultana put on a stiff fight scoring 51 runs off 48 balls before bowing to Pooja Vastrakar.
Indian national women’s cricket team led by Harmanpreet Kaur is on tour to Bangladesh for a five-match WT20I series against hosts Bangladesh. The remaining four matches of the series will also be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and the matches will start at 4:30pm (IST). The remaining four matches will be held on 30 April, 2 May, 6 May and 9 May respectively.
The series acts as a precursor for the upcoming Women Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in July followed by the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
Last year, when India visited Bangladesh, they won the three-match T20 series by 2-1. In the ODI series, Bangladesh won one game, their second against India in this format, and drew the three-match series 1-1 after forcing India to tie the third match. (Courtesy: NewsOnAir)
