Imphal: A total of 281 vehicles loaded with essential items, comprising of 103 and 178 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-02 respectively, arrived in Imphal on Thursday under strict security cover. Security measures were taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoys were provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
On the other hand, several arms and ammunition and war like store were recovered on Thursday during search operations and area domination conducted by security forces in the fringes and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. The recovered items included one .303-LMG local, one rifle with magazine, two local made single barrel guns, seven 36 hand grenades without detonator, four smoke grenades, eight 2 inches motor shells, three local made bombs, one grenade projector, two tube launching mortars, five grenade rings, three .303 chargers, three hand held sets, four Patka helmets, one local made bullet proof plate, seven bullet proof jackets, one camouflage uniform, among others.
A total of 130 checkpoints were installed in different districts in both hills and the valley. Police detained 225 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.
