Bishnupur(DIO): To ensure inclusive participation in the democratic process, polling teams have started visiting the houses of eligible absentee voters in the categories of Senior Citizens, 85 years and above, (AVSC) and Persons with Disabilities, (AVPD) to facilitate the issue and receipt of postal ballots in respect of Bishnupur district for the ensuing General Election to the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024 from today. The first round of visits of polling teams to houses of approved lists of eligible absentee voters will continue until the 14th of April, with a subsequent scheduled for 15 and 16 April to cover the left-out voters.
A total of 16 polling teams each comprising 2 polling officials, a videographer, a micro observer, and 1 half section of armed security personnel are conducting this house-to-house visits of absentee voters.
The total number of approved eligible absentee voters in respect of the Bishnupur district is 1056, which includes 603 senior citizens (AVSC), and 453 persons with disabilities (AVPD).
Meanwhile, the second round of training for polling personnel appointed as Presiding Officers, PO-1, PO-2, and PO-3 has concluded today. The two-day training program was held at Thambal Marik College, Oinam for 24-Nambol AC and 25-Oinam AC; PRC Hall Mini Secretariat Complex for 26-Bishenpur AC; and CI College, Bishnupur for 27-Moirang AC, 28-Thanga AC and 29-Kumbi AC.
Altogether, 1204 polling personnel were present in the training. Shri S. Indrajit Singh, MCS, ARO Nambol AC, and Oinam AC; Shri Rishikanta Loitongbam, MCS, ARO Bishenpur AC; Shri M. Suranjoy Singh, MCS Moirang AC and Kumbi AC and Shri M. Ricky Singh, Jr. BDO, ARO Thanga AC were overall in charge of the training.
