Imphal: The chiefship coronation of Upa W. Hemasing Monsang was held on Thursday at Japhou village community hall organised by Japhou village authority and family members of W. Hemasing. MLA 41-Chandel (ST) AC, SS.
Olish Lamkang, Deputy Commissioner Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar, IAS and Retd, CEO ADC, Chandel Upa Ts. Kothar attended the function as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and functional President respectively.
The customary oath taking during the function was undertaken by Upa Ng. Benithan, President Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union) and blessing prayer was administered by Rev. Sh. Shrimon, Pastor Japhou Baptist Church, MNBCA.
Speaking at the function, MLA SS. Olish congratulated Upa W. Hemasing and extended her best wishes to the new chief and his colleagues for a collective team work for the progress of the village and the district headquarters Japhou bazar and surrounding areas in totality.
Mayanglambam Rajkumar also emphasised on keeping Chandel district headquarters neat and clean including disposal of waste products from the town. The present disposal site used by the public near the old electricity department site needs to be re-located to a better place, in the interest of public health according to him.
Such initiative needs understanding together and public cooperation he concluded while congratulating the new chief on his coronation day.
Upa Ng. Longly, Lula cum Secretary, JVA moderated the program which was marked by congratulation notes, gift presentation, special no and Monsang folk song and dance. The function was attended by many chiefs, public and religious leaders from Monsang and neighbouring Naga villages from Chandel district.
Upa W. Hemasing thanked all the leaders and well-wishers who attended the program with moral and prayer support.
