Imphal: Three individuals who allegedly managed to flee by firing blank shots when police tried to frisk them have been arrested by the Police.
According to a source, a team of Imphal west police was conducting checking and frisking at Lilong Thongkhong near Toupokpi Police outpost at about 11.15 PM on Wednesday. In the process, one i20 car bearing Registration No. MN06LA1444 was coming from Lilong side. The police team warned the Car to halt for checking. However, instead of stopping, the occupants in the car fled after firing rounds of blank shots. Immediately, the police team chased the vehicle and could arrest three persons at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai area along with one point 32 Revolver with three empty cases.
Police said that the three arrested individuals have been identified as Thokchom Gyanendra alias Benjon (26), son of Th. Munindro of Heirangoithong Maiban Leikai, Ingudam Denil (23), so of Ingudam Tomba of Chingamakha Phuramakhong and Akash Das (24), son of (L) Jayenta Das of New Checkon, Dimdailong. One .32 Revolver with three empty cases could be recovered from the possession of Th. Gyanendra. The arrested persons and the seized items have been handed over to Singjamei Police station for further investigation.
