Imphal: Members of the JAC against the brutal killing of Akoijam Nonganba alias Aging Meetei, son of Akoijam Langam, Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai met Chief Minister N Biren at the
CM’s Secretariat on Tuesday and demanded arrest of the culprits involved in the murder.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister shared his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members.
The Chief Minister posted on his Facebook wall, “the state government is working to nab the culprits involved and those involved in the crime will be strictly dealt with as per the law”.
Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA Kebi, Moirang MLA Th Shanti, Minister Govindas, Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar also took part in the meeting.The JAC against the brutal killing of Akoijam Nonganba alias Aging Meetei submitted a memorandum
to CM N Biren and warned to launch agitation if the government fails to nab the culprits at the earliest.
A sit-in-protest was also staged at Kwakeithel Tiddim Ground on Tuesday, followed by a mass rally demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. Police blocked the rally from further proceeding.
Speaking to media persons in a press meet, General Secretary of IKAL, Wahengbam Luwangleima said that the State has hardly witnessed brutal murders for years. Unfortunately, A Nonganba who went
out with his girlfriend was later found dead near Changoubung Village in Kangpokpi district. However, his girlfriend has denied involvement in the crime, saying that she knows nothing about the incident,
which does not make sense, she added.
Praying that such incidents do not repeat in the future, she appealed to the concerned authorities to arrest and interrogate the woman, who accompanied the deceased while heading to Kangpokpi. Interrogating her will unearth the clues leading to Nonganba’s death
