Imphal: A joint team of the State Police and Central Security forces recovered and seized a cache of arms, explosives, and ammunition from the fringe and vulnerable area of jungle of Imphal East district on Wednesday, an official statement said.
Acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Sabungkhok Khunao-Chanung ridge near Sabungkhok village of Imphal East, the joint team launched a joint search operation in the said area and recovered the arms, explosives, and ammunition from abandoned sites of armed miscreants.
The team recovered four improvised long-range mortars (Pompi), one 9mm pistol, one 7.65mm pistol, two .303 rifles, ammunition, and three grenades.
The recovered items have been handed over to the concerned police station for further necessary action, the official statement added.
