STDPO Manipur raises issues of PwDs in relief camps

Imphal: State Platform of Disabled People’s Organizations Manipur has stated that many Jumbo Box and T-shirts which were sponsored by advisor of the organization and chairman of Manipur North Economic Development Association (MANEDA) T Peter were on Tuesday handed over to People with Disabilities currently living in different relief camps as displaced people.

During interaction with them it was discovered some have health conditions that necessitate taking medicines on a daily basis. However, since there are limitations in job opportunities there arise different problems in procurement of the medicines, SPDPO Manipur President Md Yunus Khan stated and urged the state’s medical department to step in to help the PwDs with such medical needs.

The organization also raised the difficulties for PwDs in accessing polling stations as encountered during the Parliamentary elections and asserted that the ECI failed to execute its pledges for the people with disabilities. It urged the authorities to enable the disabled persons to enjoy all their rights in the same way as all other citizens.
