Imphal: The state government observed Khongjom Day at a solemn function at Khongjom War Memorial Complex at Kheba Ching in Khongjom on Tuesday.
Dignitaries of the state led by Governor Anusuiya Uikey and chief minister N Biren paid their tributes to Paona Brajabashi and other fallen soldiers of Khongjom War by placing wreaths at the memorial pillar and saying prayers. Other dignitaries who participated in honouring the martyrs included ministers Th Biswajit, L Susindro, Y Khemchand, Th Basanta and K Govindas among others.
A guard of honour was given in honour of the martyrs by a contingent of 1st Bn Manipur Rifles.
