IMPHAL: Maisnam Meiraba of Manipur won the Yonex-Sunrise All India Senior Ranking Badminton Championship at Bangalore defeating 12th seed Saneeth DS of Karnataka 12-21, 21-18, 21-9 in a 54 minute final. In the semifinals, Meiraba who trains at Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy had defeated higher ranked Bhargav S, also of Karnataka, after overcoming former Indian international Saurabh Verma in the quarter-final stage. With this win Meiraba who currently occupies the sixteenth spot in the BAI senior men’s ranking will definitely climb a few spots upwards. In comparison, his rivals in the tournament Bhargav and Saneeth are third and 12th in the BAI rankings.
