Imphal: Manipur Badminton Association (MBA) has felicitated Men’s Single Champion Meiraba Luwang and Men’s Double Champion Ch Bimol and L Kumar at Indoor Stadium, DM College Campus on Friday.
On the felicitation ceremony, Th Bishwajit, Deputy Chief Minister assured that a new building institution of Manipur Badminton Association and Manipur Table Tennis Association will be built on 2 acres at Lamphel area as far as possible. He mentioned that the central government knows that there is no means to produce a well talented sports person and could not bring laurels for the nation without Manipur. The game of badminton is a type of game that can be played by everyone from the grassroot level till the age of 65 above but it is the most money consuming and very expensive when compared to others.
He conveyed that playing the game should divert the youngsters from the drug users, alcoholics, can change their characters in a good way and can convert them into professional sportsmen. Many age wise categories of U-11 to U-19 as well as Masters state level tournaments will soon be organized under the sponsorship companies from outside and inside Manipur as we face a big financial problem in the Association.
He congratulated the medal winner Meiraba Luwang who was selected for the Asian Trial Selection for the upcoming Asian games as well as won Senior Men Single title in the Yonex Sunrise All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament held at Haryana from April 12 to 18, 2023. While, he again congratulated Ch Bimol and L Kumar, winner of the 65+ Men’s Double 45th Indian Masters Badminton Championship from March 19 to 26 at Goa.
He appealed to all the players that they should follow the instructions of the coach, their elders and parents to make a destination in life. If they are good in their professional line, they should put up our association at a high level, said Bishwajit.
