TMB Report
Imphal: Amidst various complaints received from different parts of the state regarding the poor maintenance of blacktopped roads under the PMGSY scheme, it has been discovered that the ongoing blacktopping of roads from Saibol to Moirangthel can easily be dug out by hand.
The condition of the road was observed by a team led by TK Moshilpha, an intending candidate in the last state general election from Tengnoupal AC, along with a team of media professionals.
Regarding the inspection, Moshilpha stated that the ongoing PMGSY road construction from Saibol to Moirangthel, which is situated between Rilam Centre and Sairel Shaicham (Phase 3) at a distance of 17 KM, was being worked on by a single contractor identified as Mingyao Ruivanao. The completion period for the roads was supposed to be in February 2021, but they have yet to be completed as of now, he added.Moshilpha mentioned that the people in the area are grateful for the road construction, even though the roads have not been completed within the stipulated time. Unfortunately, the blacktopping on the road is very thin, and the road can be scratched out by hand. He drew the attention of concerned authorities to intervene in the matter to fully implement the PMGSY scheme and ensure that the roads are constructed with good quality maintenance.
Furthermore, he urged the state government to look into the matter as soon as possible in order to en-
sure that the roads are blacktopped more thickly. He also requested that concerned authorities complete
the blacktopping with quality maintenance before the rainy season arrives.
