Imphal:Performing Artist Centre (PAC) observed its 39th Foundation Day at its office at Khurai on Tuesday.
The observation was attended by former director Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Laipubam Upendra Sharma as the Chief Guest, president PAC, Thangjam Mani Singh as the President and Secretary of Sangeet Kala Sangam M Basanta as guest of honour. Floral tributes were paid to former members of PAC as a part of the observation.
Giving his speech as the Chief Guest, Former Director Laipubam Upendra asserted that an artist is like a sharp knife and with each performance an artist becomes more sharper. He stated that if an organiser does not take initiative, the Organisation will not develop.
He said the Artist and organiser need to work together for the overall development. He raised concern that systematic learning of the elders of the state is fading away in today’s generation and stated that rather than learning the basic knowledge, people are more concerned on showing off.
Pointing out that there is need for a good foundation in every field, he lauded the existence of an organisation as PAC in our society and stressed on the coordination between organisation working for the art and culture of the state and must share knowledge and information between one another.
He said that there are many budding artists in the state however, there is need for a good administrator. He mentioned that as long as there is human civilization, art will continue to change its trend and hoped that the young artists will work hard with dedication and sacrifice.
Simple gifts were distributed to the senior artist of PAC and performance of the artists of PAC “Krishna Vandana” was also showcase.
