Imphal: Curtain Raiser event of Diamond Jubilee of All India Radio Imphal was held at the Auditorium of AIR Imphal, Palace compound on Thursday.
The journey of AIR Imphal since its inception in 1963 was explianed via power point presentation during the event which featured Musical performance, poetry reading by the AIR staff.
Prasar Bharati Additional Director General Sunil Sivastava who graced as Chief guest of the event said that for the first time in the history, Government of India has recently sanctioned Rs. 2500 Crore for AIR and Doordarsan acknowledging their increasing contribution to society.
Lauding the talents showcased by the AIR Imphal staff, he suggested that the staff of AIR Imphal station can showcase their talent in the global arena to get awards. India is a country gifted with varieties of Art and Culture. Moreover, the Art and culture of Manipur is unique in quality.
He said that he will send Prasar bharati CEO to Manipur to see what can be done for development of AIR Imphal station. He also expressed happiness over selecting of AIR Imphal’s song “Sanaleibak Manipur” as state song terming it a pride. All India Radio Imphal Director (engineering) Nongmaithem Nandakumar,
