Imphal: One driver died when a truck ferrying milk powder fell down in a deep gorge near Tamlok waiting Shed along the Imphal-Jiribam National highway.
Police said, the unfortunate accident occured on Wednesday at about 3:40 PM the along NH-37( Imphal -Jiribam Road) near Tamlok waiting Shed under Noney police station ,Noney District.
The milk powder ferrying truck (registration number MN01AA 6270) coming from Jiribam to Imphal fell down in a deep gorge measuring more than 100 feets.It is suspected that the incident happened due to over speeding drive. The driver of the truck died at the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Thanggun Kipgen son of Haopu Kipgen of Kangpokpi ward No.09. He is the driver cum owner of the ill fated truck.
The dead body was retrieved by Noney police and deposited at RIMS morgue for post mortem.
