Thoubal: Thoubal District Police apprehended three overground workers of the outlawed PLA from Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai on Saturday.
A joint team of Thoubal commando and 16 AR led by O. Wangkhomba Additional SP (Ops) Thoubal and Inspector K. Nitaranjan Singh, OC, Thoubal Commando under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam, IPS, SP Thoubal arrested three overground workers of PLA, an unlawful organisation from Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai, Imphal West at around 11 PM.
Police sources identified the arrested persons as Ayekpam Abi Singh (40) alias Rabi; Ayekpam Kumarjit Singh (46), both sons of A. Ibomcha Singh of Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai Beni Leirak and Kongjengbam Abinash Singh (24) alias Ibungo, son of K. Inaocha Singh of Lairenjam Awang Leikai, Imphal West district.
One mobile phone was seized from the possession of Kongjengbam Abinash alias Ibungo while one Chinese hand grenade and one mobile phone were seized from the possession of Ayekpam Abi alias Rabi. The police team also seized one BERETTA 9mm pistol with two Magazines, one Chinese hand grenade and one mobile phone from the possession of Ayekpam Kumarjit Singh.
The arrested persons revealed that they were working under the command of Ayekpam Dhamen Singh alias Brojen alias Thwanjao, self- styled Major of PLA, who is the elder brother of Abi alias Rabi and Ayekpam Kumarjit Singh.
The arrested persons along with the seized items were handed over to Singjamei Police Station for taking further necessary legal action, it said.
