Two arrested with Brown Sugar in Thoubal

Thoubal: As part of the ongoing drive by Thoubal District Police on War against Drugs 2.0, two individuals were arrested along with Brown Sugar on Wednesday.

As informed by a source, Thoubal District Police received a tip off that smuggled contraband items will be transported from Sajik Tampak under Chakpikarong Police Station, Chandel district to Lilong area, Thoubal district on Wednesday morning.

Based on the information, a joint team of Thoubal commando and a column ot 16 AR under the command of O. Wangkhomba, MPS, Additional SP(Ops), Thoubal and K. Nitaranjan Singh Officer-in-Charge Commando Unit Thoubal under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police Thoubal intercepted a Bolero Jeep white in colour bearing registration no.AS09D 0376 near Uningkhong bridge along NH-102.

The team conducted a search of the vehicle during which 41 soap cases containing approximately 484 gram of suspected Brown Sugar were found concealed inside the vehicle, said the source.

The two occupants of the Bolero who identified themselves as Makakmayum Hefajuddin (27), son of Md.Riaz of Lilong Sambrukhong Mamei and Md. Washim Akram Boinao (22), son of Md.Abdul Rashid of Lilong Sambrukhong Awang were arrested by observing necessary formalities on the spot at 9.30 am.

The suspected Brown Sugar and the Bolero Jeep along with two mobile phones were seized and handed over to Khongjom Police Station. A regular NDPS case has been registered for further investigation, the source conveyed.
